PhilosophyThe philosophy of Our Lady of the Visitacion School has a four-fold purpose:
The school community seeks to make a difference in our society - child by child, family by family - thus cultivating a seedbed of Christian values and service. We have a special commitment to use the power of education to assist struggling families so they may achieve a better quality of life. As such, Our Lady of the Visitacion School students are encouraged to develop their innate talents so they will grow and mature not only physically and socially, but also emotionally, intellectually and spiritually. Therefore students are provided with a curriculum that adheres to the guidelines of the Archdiocese San Francisco. The school seeks to educate its diverse learning community by offering educational experiences and services that meet the needs of a variety of learning styles. Classes in Religion, Mathematics, Reading, Science, English, and Social Studies provide the necessary information and skills so that students are prepared to enter secondary school. Education in Art, Physical Education, and Music contribute to the development of talents not challenged by academic coursework. Through the school-wide commitment to the use of the Discipline With Purpose program, students become instilled with a sense of responsibility for themselves and for the school, local, and global community. Students continue to develop their Discipline With Purpose skills when they serve the school and parish community on athletic teams, yearbook, choir, altar servers, student council, safety patrol, peer tutoring, and as seventh and eighth grade buddies for kindergarten and first grade. |
